This review is from: Thermaltake Max 5G Active Cooling Hard Drive Enclosure with Two 80mm Blue LED Fans USB 3.0 5.0Gbps ST0020U (Personal Computers)
I purchased this enclosure to replace a failed Antec MX-1(The fan and power connection failed after 1 year of use). I am extremely pleased with this enclosure. I am using it to provide additional storage for my DirecTV DVR so it is in use 24/7. The 2 80mm fans cool very well and are quiet. I mounted an SATA Seagate 1TB drive in the enclosure and used the provided eSATA connector. The snap in mounting system was easy to use and holds the drive securely. No screws to mess with! Everything worked well on the first try.
The only minor negative was the fact that Thermaltake uses screws with non-standard heads to open the case. They are not quite Allen wrench and not quite Torx, something in between. Thermaltake 'did' include the necessary tool in the box but now I have to keep track of the tool for future use. Would have been easier and cheaper just to use standard head screws!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Thermaltake Max 5G Active Cooling Hard Drive Enclosure with Two 80mm Blue LED Fans USB 3.0 5.0Gbps ST0020U (Personal Computers)
I needed a new external enclosure that would support the benefits of a higher speed hard disk and also had active cooling. I currently have this enclosure installed with a hitachi deskstar 2tb, SATA III 6 gb/s, 64mb cache connected with USB 3.0. Fastest external set up I have ever owned.
Pros:
>USB 3.0
>SATA III 6 gb/s support
>tool-less hard drive mounting. (uses supplied hex to open the case)
>dual fan active cooling
>LED on and off switch
Cons:
>none so far
>some may note the price as a con but the pros make the price.
I have always been happy with thermaltake products.

I purchased this product for my 1TB WD Black HDD, and works fantastic! The dual fans, to my surprise, are "VERY" quiet! and the blue leds add a nice touch. The enclosure isn't made of aluminum like some others, but it seems to keep cool enough while in full function. The initial HD install was simple, pretty much dumb proof.
I would definitely recommend this product to others!
Ps: There's are two different Max 5's (Max 5 n' Max 5G), one has eSata with USB 2.0, while the other has USB 3.0.
